I the government can find some way to sent BILLIONS of dollars the Iraq then how come they can't find more money to give to Americas education system?

Every year America ups the standards for America's education System. Every year there is a new test or a new goal to meet and if it's not met then the schools get penalized. It makes me think that if the government is so high on setting tough standards for schools and students (which is a good thing) then why are the nations public schools struggling. Some schools are having to close and merge with other schools because they can not afford to stay open. It's no wonder why the united states is at the bottom of the list as far as how bright our children are. The government needs to get their priorities straight.
